The aim of disc golf is to go through the course with as few throws as possible. You can borrow a scorecard pad, scorecard and a pen from the bistro.
The game starts at the opening of the first fairway, i.e. the tee. The members of the group take turns throwing, after which they move to the discs advancing to the target. The next throw starts from where each player’s disc comes to rest. The player furthest from the target throws first, the others should stay behind the throwing player. Remember to count your throws.
The throwing continues until the disc rests in the target. The disc must be inside the basket of the target or held by the chains and not, for example, on the roof of the basket – though a wedged disc in between the holes of the bottom cage of the target counts as in. After the fairway, the player moves to the opening of the next fairway and the throws used are tracked on the scorecard. The player who completes the course with the fewest throws is the winner.
To make the game more difficult, there are trees, rocks and other natural obstacles on the courses. These obstacles are an essential part of the sport and may not be moved or damaged.
There is also an area on the course that is marked as unplayable (wetland), the so-called OB (Out of Bounds) area. If your shot ends up in an unplayable area, one penalty shot will be added to your score from that fairway. Play continues from the point where your shot went into the unplayable area.
